Authenticity is contagious
Hello my friends,
Let’s talk about the contagious, generous nature of authenticity!
A couple of years ago, I wrote this article about the joy of living authentically. But would also love to hear your thoughts and experiences in the comments below.
Let’s begin with a visual. Here’s the artwork for the “Authenticity is contagious” card for my upcoming “Find Your Own Way” oracle deck.
I based this image on a large painting I created 17 years ago when I was in my late teens! The explosion of colour and light sparks from the meeting of two butterflies, two spirits facing each other authentically with vulnerability and courage.
As I was growing up, I’d often been taught that being authentic and confident in your own path was close to self indulgence and selfishness. Did you experience this too? It took me many years into my late twenties to begin to see that my unique self is important - informing my place and contribution to the larger community.
Your authenticity and vulnerability invite others to be authentic and vulnerable, too. It’s contagious! When we open up to each other, unity and peace emerge. Although not everyone will resonate with you, being true to yourself makes space for connections with those who do. These exchanges are rich with wisdom, ideas, and comfort.
Living authentically is a generous act that opens space for others to do the same. By honoring your own path, you align with nature's intent for your growth. To be authentic is to follow your unique path, contributing to the broader tapestry of life.
With practice, staying true to yourself fosters self-awareness, empowerment, and joy in your daily life.
Affirmation
‘May I find true, deep joy from authenticity rather than the security of fitting in.’
So what do you think? When have you courageously shown your true self and empowered others to do the same? What about the small every day scenarios we face with family, friends, colleagues and strangers?
Comment below with your experience, I’d love to hear!
Much warmth,
Ari x
